CURTISS-WRIGHT SECURES NEW AGREEMENT FOR $23.6 MILLION
December 01, 2003
Five-Year F/A-22 Agreement is Second Program Award in Six Months
ROSELAND, N.J., Dec. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Curtiss-Wright Corporation (NYSE: CW; CW.B) today announced it has secured a memorandum of agreement valued at $23.6 million at current projected aircraft production rates from The Boeing Company (NYSE: BA). The period of production is planned from 2004 through 2009. The agreement is the second F/A-22 program award Curtiss-Wright has secured in six months through its motion control business segment, Curtiss-Wright Controls, Inc.
Curtiss-Wright Controls will supply rotary actuators for the lead edge wing flaps for the F/A-22 Raptor, a program developed through a partnership between Lockheed Martin and Boeing.
Curtiss-Wright developed the actuators and has supplied the parts to Boeing from the program's inception and development through the current production lot. The F/A-22 contract recently awarded by Lockheed Martin also was for actuation equipment for the lead edge wing flaps.
Martin Benante, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Curtiss-Wright, commented on the new agreement, "This award demonstrates our continuing commitment to the F/A-22 program and to our long-standing relationship with Boeing. We are very proud to have been chosen as one of the major suppliers to secure a multi-year agreement on this cutting-edge, high performance program."
The F/A-22 was developed to counter the increased sophistication and threat of hostile air forces and integrated air systems in use around the world. Scheduled for operations in 2005, the F/A-22 has unprecedented fighter and attack capabilities with its balanced design of stealth, supercruise speed and extreme agility, along with advanced integrated avionics and a pilot-friendly cockpit.
