Curtiss-Wright Receives Order for DeltaGuard(R) Systems From Petrobras to Supply 12 Automated Coke Drum Unheading Systems

July 13, 2010

PARSIPPANY, N.J., Jul 13, 2010 (GlobeNewswire via COMTEX News Network) -- Curtiss-Wright Corporation (NYSE:CW) announced today that it has received an order from Petrobras for 12 top and bottom DeltaGuard fully-automated coke drum unheading systems. The units are expected to be delivered to the Petrobras Abreu e Lima (RNEST) Refinery located in Pernambuco, Brazil. With the Petrobras order, the total number of DeltaGuard systems sold will rise to 461.

"Curtiss-Wright is a worldwide leader in delivering unique solutions that ensure safety and improve operating efficiency within the oil refining industry. We are pleased to be partnering with Petrobras to provide critical equipment for their delayed coker units," said Martin R. Benante, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Curtiss-Wright. "Our delayed coking products have steadily gained an industry-leading reputation for providing unparalleled safety and increased reliability while minimizing maintenance costs."

During the opening of a coke drum -- an action called "unheading" -- extreme temperatures can be present. The DeltaGuard system safely opens the top or bottom of a coke drum during the delayed coking process. Unlike traditional unheading systems, the remotely operated DeltaGuard device creates a totally enclosed, fully automated coking system, from the top of the coke drum down to the coke pit, minimizing safety risks to personnel during the unheading process.

Curtiss-Wright's Flow Control segment will manufacture the DeltaGuard systems.
